LifeNet staff taught bystander CPR to more than 50 kids at the 23rd Annual Wild About Wellness Health Fair in Texarkana, Texas held August 11th at the Four States Fairgrounds.
The goal of the health fair was to ensure kids throughout the community are healthy. Various businesses offered free medical screenings, immunizations, fun activities, contests and educational information geared toward the health and interests of area children and their families.
In an effort to improve the chain of survival in our community, LifeNet setup a booth to teach kids (and parents) how to do compression only CPR. Additionally, staff shared information about when to call 9-1-1 during a medical emergency.
A study published in the Resuscitation Journal found that retention of CPR knowledge is enhanced when training on CPR skills is repeated at regular intervals and by starting training at an early age.
